Abstract

Research revealed high rates of traditional medicines in Nigeria long before the advent of the Colonial era. Traditional medicine comprises medical aspects of traditional knowledge that developed over generations within the folk beliefs of various societies including indigenous people before the era of modern medicine. The world has been shocked by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and no country is spared of the effects of the pandemic. The effects cut across every area of life. The purpose of this paper therefore is to identify and discuss the challenges of indigenous medicine on global pandemic especially the Covid-19 pandemic that recently ravaged the entire world, suggest solutions and make recommendations. The findings show that if well moderated and incorporated, the indigenous medicine is capable of reducing the impact of global pandemic, most especially Covid-19 on the populace.
